Files (1952, 1958-1967) contain correspondence of NLC Exeuctive Director Paul C. Empie and regard arrangements and programming for the Lutheran World Federation's Hanover (Germany) Assembly in 1952 and its Helsinki (Finland) Assembly in 1963. Hanover Asembly correspondence consists of a request for a copy of an address given at the meeting. The remainder of the collection relates to Helsinki activities, specifically in regard to publicity, publication requests, film use and production, critiques of the Assembly, project funding, dinner and program planning and attendance, and delegate travel arrangements and tours. Also included are. Scripts for films used at the Helsinki Assembly. The National Lutheran Council (NLC) was founded on September 6, 1918 as a common agency of participating Lutheran church bodies to administer domestic programs, publicize Lutheran activities and beliefs, and provide overseas emergency relief to areas devastated by World War I.
